Perfect Christmas Card

We always buy the portrait photos taken at my son’s daycare.  We don't buy them because they are good; we buy them because they are hilarious.  I have two personal favorites that I have named “I have an abundance of snot and drool” and “I won’t let mommy cut my hair."

This year, my son’s daycare scheduled holiday pictures in October.  I had just bought him new clothes for fall, so he had something appropriate to wear for the picture.  It happened to be an unusually hot day for October, 80 degrees.  My son had exactly one t-shirt that still fit him.  Picture this, a beautiful snow scene in the background, snowflakes glistening on the Christmas tree, and my son sitting in a sleigh with a big smile on his face…wearing an orange (make that traffic cone orange) t-shirt with a picture of Abe Lincoln on the front.

My first thought was, if he had been wearing a Christmas sweater, it would have made a perfect Christmas card.  My second thought was, there will be plenty of “perfect Christmas card” photos.  There will only be one “sledding through snowstorm in traffic cone orange Abe Lincoln t-shirt.”

  1. Of course you have to buy all the pictures - they are ammo for embarrassment when he is in his teens . . .and all the grandparents love them no matter what! I enjoyed the first blog.
